Webinar 4 | Understanding the Social Infrastructure 

Once the community is analyzed, the community builder needs to understand the social infrastructure, the places and spaces where people engage in community. These resources are critical to successful engagement, yet many of these places and spaces may not be sensitive to the uniqueness’s of some community members. This session will go over strategies and actions that can soften the infrastructure in welcoming all people.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Social infrastructure will be identified and discussed
• Assessing the architectural and attitudinal aspects will be explored
• Softening strategies will be introduced

ABOUT THE TRAINER

Al Condeluci initiated his career in human services in 1970, working in a variety of direct support roles.  He was selected as CEO of Community Living and Support Services (CLASS) in 1991 and served in this capacity until his retirement in 2018. He still teaches at the University of Pittsburgh, writes, speaks, and consults both virtually through Zoom and in person on issues related to culture, community, and social capital.

Al lives in McKees Rocks, PA, just outside Pittsburgh, on “Condeluci Hill” with his wife, and other members of the extended Condeluci family.

FORMAT

This online training event will take place via the Zoom platform. Participants will be sent a meeting link the week before the event. Training materials will be sent via email the day before the event.
